     In case you don't know, Game Monkeys Magazine has a very strict policy regarding the ways that some publishers use games to install spyware and malware on your computer. The policy is that if a we feel a company is abusing its consumers, instead of reviewing the game we tell you about it.
     Well, Battlefield 3 for the PC is the single worst invasion of gamers' rights and privacy we've ever seen.
     More detailed information on what exactly they're doing can be found at Gamespot (or just about anywhere else on the net), but the short version is that they are using Battlefield 3 and Origins--which is basically EA's version of Steam--to inspect your Registry, track all of the programs you have ever, or ever will, install, monitor your applications, log the websites you visit, and upload all of that information to their servers.
     They also had originally said that they had the rights to sell that information to third-parties! Well, they've changed that last bit, but used some pretty vague legal language to do it--and a lawyer we consulted for this story said that they could still legally get away with doing it. So, as far as we're concerned, that's still likely to happen.
     This is, quite simply, some of the worst spyware we've ever seen and there is no way in hell we'd put it on our computer. It doesn't matter how good the game is, no company has the right to do that to its customers.
     And while we know this doesn't apply to the Xbox version of the game, we felt that--given how heinous this situation is--we would refuse to put a review up for the 360 version as well. In fact, we are encouraging all of our readers to boycott this, and ever other, game EA puts out until their unconscionable behavior stops.
